It began with a question
In 2018 the idea was almost embarrassingly simple: water is the one thing everyone consumes every single day, so why has it not changed in a hundred years? Bottled, filtered, flavoured, carbonated, yes. But fundamentally improved? Never. That question would not go away.
An unlikely discovery
The answer arrived from an unexpected direction. A plumber, of all people, someone who spends every working day thinking about how water moves and behaves, introduced us to the world of hydrogen-rich water: the idea that the smallest molecule in existence could be dissolved into water and carried into the body. It sounded improbable. The research said otherwise.
It became personal
Through 2020, in a year when everyone was forced to slow down and pay attention to their health, hydrogen water stopped being a curiosity and became a daily habit. First for one of us, then for all of us. The effect was quiet but persistent, and it changed the ambition: this should not be a niche import. It should be made properly, in Britain.
Years in the making
What followed was the unglamorous part. Through 2021 and beyond we worked on the details that matter: how to reach a genuinely guaranteed concentration of 1.0 – 1.6 PPM, how to keep it there, and why packaging is not a branding decision but a chemistry one. Hydrogen escapes plastic. It does not escape sealed aluminium. So Nucleus would only ever come in cans.
The perfect partnership
The final piece was the water itself. In 2023 we found it beneath one of Britain's great icons: the protected aquifer under Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, producing award-winning natural mineral water. Heritage on the outside, innovation on the inside. The partnership simply made sense.
Nucleus is born
In 2024 the first cans of Nucleus were sealed: Blenheim Palace mineral water, infused with molecular hydrogen at a guaranteed 1.0 – 1.6 PPM, zero sugar, zero calories. From an icon, to something innovative. This is only the beginning.
